AVB e Milan: latenza garantita su Ethernet
AVB (Audio Video Bridging) è suite di standard IEEE 802.1 per traffico real-time su Ethernet. Milan è protocollo di certificazione basato su AVB promosso da Avnu Alliance (L-Acoustics, d&b, Meyer Sound, Biamp, DiGiCo, Avid).
Standard AVB
- IEEE 802.1AS: gPTP (generalized PTP) sync
- IEEE 802.1Qav: traffic shaping (FQTSS)
- IEEE 802.1Qat: stream reservation (SRP)
- IEEE 1722: AVTP transport audio/video
- IEEE 1722.1: AVDECC discovery/control
Caratteristiche
- Layer 2 Ethernet (non IP-based puro)
- Latency garantita: 250 µs – 2 ms
- Stream reservation: banda garantita per ogni stream
- QoS hardware (priorità nei switch AVB)
- Discovery automatico via AVDECC
- Sample rate: 44,1/48/88,2/96/176,4/192 kHz
Vantaggi AVB
- Standard IEEE aperto (no royalty)
- QoS garantita a livello hardware switch
- Latenza deterministica
- No congestion: reservation previene drop
- Plug-and-play AVDECC
- Tempo sync di precisione (gPTP nanosecond)
Svantaggi AVB
- Switch dedicati AVB-certified richiesti
- Switch costosi (vs gigabit consumer)
- Ecosistema più piccolo di Dante
- Configurazione più tecnica
- Diffusione minore in Italia/Europa rispetto Dante
Switch AVB-certified
- Extreme Networks Summit X440-G2
- Netgear M4250 series
- Biamp Tesira AVB-cap
- Avid Pro|Switch
- Cisco Catalyst (con licenza)
- Luminex GigaCore (live audio)

FAQ
AVB è morto?
No, in crescita in nicchie pro top. Milan certification dà nuova spinta.
Switch AVB più affidabile?
Sì per audio: bandwidth reserved, no congestione. Pari per dati IT.
Milan vs Dante meglio?
Dipende. Milan: garanzia hardware, pro top. Dante: ecosistema, semplicità.
Posso installare AVB in casa?
Switch AVB economici (Netgear) iniziano 800-1500€. Costoso per home audio. Solo se sistema speaker richiede (raro hi-fi consumer).
Milan certificazione obbligatoria?
No, AVB IEEE puro funziona. Milan aggiunge interop garantita e plug-and-play.
L-Acoustics tutti Milan?
Sì, gamma touring + install (LA-RAK II, LA12X) supporta Milan nativamente.
Migrazione Dante a Milan?
Hardware sostituire spesso. Alcuni device dual-mode (Avid VENUE supports both).
Stai progettando un impianto audio professionale?
Domus Tech S.r.l.s. progetta e installa sistemi audio professionali: chiese, teatri, centri congressi, ristoranti, hotel. Dante, AES67, AVB, sistemi conferenza, line array, calibrazione acustica.
